The Carlos Anderson Shrine (Aspen Mountain)

Carlos Anderson was the founder of a group of popular restaurants in Mexico and the United States known generally as "Carlos 'n Charlie's." He died on October 14, 1990 in a plane crash in the remote mountains of Jalisco state in Mexico. He was 55 years old and was board chairman of Grupo Anderson's. His rented six-seat Cessna, carrying four other people, crashed during bad weather after takeoff from San Sebastian, about 400 miles northwest of Mexico City. For 8 years prior to his death he had lived in Aspen, Colorado. His wife Diane served as president of the Aspen Art Museum. He was born on January 15, 1934 in Bakersfield, California.
