The article quoted below, about the passing of Chrisy Hardy, was in the Aspen Times newspaper on September 29, 2008.

"Chrisy Hardy passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends on Sunday, Sept. 21, in Denver. She was 31 years old.

Chrisy was born and raised in Santa Fe, N.M., and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1994. After high school, she moved to Colorado where she received a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University. She then moved to Aspen to be among the mountains.

While in Aspen, she became a level 3 PSIA Ski Instructor and taught skiing to many, mostly children. She then decided that she wanted skiing to be her passion, rather than profession, and moved to Denver and obtained Masters Degrees in both Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Colorado. Most recently, Chrisy was a practicing landscape architect in Denver.

Chrisy was loved by everyone with whom she interacted. Her love of life and zeal for adventure took her around the world and to the top of most of Colorado’s fourteeners. She gathered amazing friends along each step of her journey and changed the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Chrisy never lived a regretful day in her entire life. She chased her dreams and packed more into her abbreviated life than most do a typical lifetime. The solace of those who love her is that she lived a joyous and full life above all else.

Chrisy leaves behind her parents, Ken and Karen Hardy, her brother, Steve Hardy, her sister-in-law, Dana Simmons Hardy, her nephew, Alec Hardy, and truly the most amazing friends anyone could ask for.

There will be a visitation and remembrance at McGee Memorial Chapel in Santa Fe, N.M., on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 5:30 p.m., and a funeral service at Cristo Rey Church on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. In addition, a celebration of her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 on top of Aspen Mountain. Those who are coming to the service should load the gondola by 10:30 a.m. and let the lift operators know they are going to the service. There will be complimentary lift service."
