The Hjordis "Queen Bee" Skaeringsson Bench (Buttermilk)
The Hjordis "Queen Bee" Skaeringsson bench used to be located at the base of Buttermilk, but during the 2014-15 season was moved to the base of the Tiehack Lift. Carved into the back of the wooden bench is this:
"In Loving Memory 'Daling' Hjordis 'Queen Bee' Skaeringsson"

This bench was dedicated to Hjordis, because she worked at Buttermilk Ski School for years and she also ran the private lesson desk there. She was born on May 28, 1926 and died on July 17, 1995. She called everyone "daling" (especially if she couldn't remember your name) in her Icelandic accent. She was the "Queen Bee" of the Buttermilk ski school.
Úlfar Skæringsson, husband of Hjördís, was born on Oct 29,1930, and passed away at his home in Aspen on September 2, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Read his obituary here: https://www.aspentimes.com/news/ulfar-skaeringsson/
