Sanctuaries in the Snow

The Ksenija Shrine (Aspen Highlands)

The Ksenija Shrine is on Aspen Highlands.  Ksenija Ilic is a ski instructor with the Aspen Skiing Company and the shrine is a tribute to a group of locals who met through locals' skiing clinics with Ksenija and, over a period of 10 years, developed  strong skiing skills, and most importantly, long-lasting friendships.  Every year on March 1 they would ski together in a locals' clinic and celebrate Ksenija's birthday.

The name Ksenija is derived from the Greek language and means "hospitality".   It is a female name used mainly in Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Slovenia, and Croatia.

Many thanks to Pat Spector and Ksenija Ilic for help with this page.
