The Marty Hershey Bench (Buttermilk)

Marty Hershey was a former Aspen Police Chief and City Councilman.  He was also a ski instructor, golfer, and a judge.  He was born in 1926 and died in 2002.  The wooden bench in his memory was at first at the base of Buttermilk, but during the 2014-15 season was moved near the building at the bottom of the West Buttermilk Express lift.   Carved on the back of the bench is this:

"Marty Hershey 1926--2002, Ski Instructor-Golfer-Judge"

A photo of the bench is below.  For more photos, see this Facebook photo album (you do not need a Facebook account to view the album):  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.807511805987452&type=1&l=06920b6b11
